Today, we celebrate one of our own, Tim Hema, who has received formal recognition from Government House of the Northern Territory for his significant contribution during the recent flooding event in our community, Palumpa. As West Daly Regional Council's Director of Service Delivery, Tim embodies the leadership, resilience and commitment that underpin our organisation, making a tangible difference to the communities we serve and represent.
In a recognition from His Honour the Honourable David Connolly, Administrator of the Northern Territory, Tim was acknowledged for the critical role he played in supporting the recovery operations, helping to deliver practical support to affected communities when it was needed most. The letter also recognises his commitment, resilience and willingness to step up under pressure, thanking him on behalf of all Territorians for the contribution he has made.
Recognition such as this is a reminder that local government extends far beyond the delivery of everyday services. In a remote community like ours, Council employees are often among the first to respond, working alongside emergency services, government agencies and local communities to help ensure people are safe.
