“Coming together to work as one people”
The land where our Elected Members, Local Authority Members and residents live is known as Thamarrurr, a Murinh-Patha word meaning “coming together to work as one people.”
This belief sits at the heart of the West Daly Regional Council. We work alongside our communities to build a stronger, safer and more connected region, one that honours its rich history, culture, and Country while creating new opportunities for social and economic growth
Working together to make a difference in our community
We strive to create communities that are respectful, peaceful and safe, places where everyone can live well and thrive.
To walk alongside culture, Country and people to build a stronger community.
We achieve this by working together, creating real opportunities, and
providing services and facilities that benefit everyone across the West Daly region.
Our work is guided by the principles that reflect who we are and what we stand for:
West Daly Regional Council acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we work and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging, and to All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
