Finance Committee

Purpose

The Finance Committee provides advice and oversight to ensure the West Daly Regional Council manages its finances responsibly and transparently.


It plays an important role in helping Council make sound financial decisions that support our communities now and into the future.

Role and Responsibilities

The Committee supports Council by:

Reviewing and monitoring Council’s financial performance and position throughout the year.

Providing guidance on annual budgets, long-term financial planning, and capital works programs.

Overseeing financial policies, asset management and risk management frameworks.

Reviewing reports from external and internal audits to ensure accountability and good governance.

Making recommendations to Council on matters that affect the financial sustainability of the region.

Membership

The Finance Committee is made up of elected Councillors and senior Council staff.


The Chief Executive Officer and Director of Corporate Services provide regular updates and advice to assist the Committee in its deliberations

Meetings

Finance Committee meetings are generally held quarterly at the Council’s head office in Wadeye, with the option for remote attendance when required.

Meeting dates are advertised in advance, and members of the public are welcome to attend as observers.
