About Council

The West Daly Regional Council was established in 2014 and includes the major communities of Wadeye, Peppimenarti and Nganmarriyanga, and surrounding homelands.  The Council area covers 14,070 square kilometres and has a population of more than 3,000 people. Wadeye is the largest remote community in the Territory and the fifth largest town. About the Role

The West Daly Regional Council’s Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC) provides independent assurance and assistance to the Council and the Chief Executive Officer. The ARMC’s focus includes Council’s risk, control and compliance frameworks, and external accountability responsibilities as prescribed in the Local Government Act and Regulations.

The ARMC comprises an Independent member, who also Chair’s the Committee, and two Councillors, and meets at least twice per year, and special meetings can be scheduled as required.  The Chairperson is remunerated a sitting fee (aligned to NT Statutory and Advisory and Review Bodies – Class C2) plus travel costs, and is appointed by Council for a two year term. 

 

About You

Council seeks a person experienced in similar roles and/or relevant senior management. Professional qualifications, knowledge and experience in corporate governance are desirable, as is an understanding of local government and regional and remote environments.
